“Over the hump”
July in Alabama. The sound of cicadas eerily matches the intensity of the heat. Boy that sounds like the beginning of a good novel. Unfortunately this is not a novel or good. It’s a blog. Albeit a blog about some cool things. So grab a glass of sweet tea, (if you’re not from the south head to your nearest McDonalds and order one) sit back and enjoy this account of our third quarter. Karen (that’s our office manager) really didn’t think we would stick with this.
Chicanery Racing is born.
It’s ugly, as all babies but your own are, however CHICANERY RACING is here. And we believe that it will grow into a beautiful nubile brand. The website is still not up, but will be. Some day. We have finished the wide body kit for the C5 Corvette and it looks amazing! If you have a C5 Vette and want one of these kits give us a call, say you saw this blog and we will give a set of TredWear tire graphics (your choice) free of charge with the purchase of the Chicanery kit.
We also purchased a new 2017 Chevrolet Silverado to start work on the next chicanery racing kit. I know what you’re thinking, a truck? Just hear us out on this though. The Truck scene is exploding! And it doesn’t take much to turn a boring gravel toting box into a sweet performance machine. Plus they are easy on insurance. Here are some pics of the development process.
Our initial idea was a Bandit themed Truck. You know Smokey and the Bandit? Black with a golden Phoenix on the hood, snowflake wheels? If still you don’t know what I’m talking about you’re probably a Millennial. That’s okay. Go to Hulu, Netflix ,or amazon and watch the first one ( I’m not sure you could handle the sequels). Then you will know what I’m talking about.
Now that you know what we are talking about you know we needed a black truck to execute the Bandit theme. Black vehicles are sexy. We love them. You just saw that black vette we did right? Well It seems that EVERYONE but us knows that black vehicles don’t photograph well. Oh, you could have told us that? Great! Now we know. So we had to make some changes. Here are the renderings we looked at. Our friend Murray Pfaff at Pfaff designs did the renderings ( pfaffdesigns.com). Talk about a hard choice.
Ultimately we liked the Blue and White and decided to combine the two. Project became known as Scottsdale SS.
August.
The reality that SEMA is upon us has sunk in. It may be 3 months away but there is a lot to do. Logistics have to be planned. Booth space has to be laid out. The Scottsdale SS kit has to be finished, the truck has to be painted, Magnuson Supercharger installed, custom exhaust shields have to be cut, custom exhaust has to be installed, wheels and tires need to be chosen, TredWear.com tire graphics have to be installed, bed liner, tonneau cover……….. So all of that plus a checklist for 3 other vehicles needs to be completed plus posters need to be ordered. Anyway lots to do and not much time. Of course we have a great team and we can do it!
With the Tarantula build under our belt we decided we can take that same formula and apply it to something else. But it has to be even cooler than Tarantula. We decided to do a Daytona. To date we haven’t decided on a name (I personally am leaning toward “Super Daytona”) but we do have a rendering.
September.
Our distributor from Down Under picked up the opportunity to put some tire graphics on GRM’s supercars and made this sweet video:

Also, it seemed like September was Burn Your Tires Down month. Now only the original permanent tire graphics can handle this kind of punishment. Don’t try this with stickers on your tire. You will be disappointed.
That is three new blog posts in as many weeks. We’re Not Slackers anymore! Wait. Wait. Our office manager says that’s premature.
We might still be slackers. Karen says we need to make it past the first of 2018 to get off the slacker list.
